Winter Adventures: Joshua Tree National Park

April 22, 2025April 22, 2025 / Kelly / Leave a comment

'From the time the Joshua tree was a tiny sapling, it had been so beaten down by the whipping wind that, rather than trying to grow skyward, it had grown in the direction that the wind pushed it. It existed now in a permanent state of windblowness, leaning over so far that it seemed ready … Continue reading Winter Adventures: Joshua Tree National Park

Winter Adventures: Lake Arrowhead

March 25, 2025March 25, 2025 / Kelly / Leave a comment

'Nothing is forever anymore'-Sarah Jarosz I was lucky to grow up in Lake Arrowhead, California-a tiny mountain town about an hour from Los Angeles. Growing up, it felt suffocating because the bright lights of LA were so close and we were so small but, upon reflection, I am grateful for my childhood there. I still … Continue reading Winter Adventures: Lake Arrowhead

'Life is a great adventure, accept it in such a spirit.'-Theodore Roosevelt When I knew for certain I was seeing Adele in Las Vegas for Christmas, I began planning the rest of my road trip. Love seeing the US with my best Gus! Spent the weekend near Dallas @cedarhillstatepark with Gus! We camped, hiked, and enjoyed a Texas sunset over the lake! My first time and just a really lovely time! Gus and I spent the weekend at Cedar Hill State Park. It was the perfect opportunity to test out my new @ripskirt_hawaii Sport skirt and sun scarf! The fabric on both was amazing and so breathable because Central Texas is in denial its fall! While he was sad to not get to go to the Boo Ball last night, he was grateful for the flowers @basintheatreworks let me take home! On March 30, 1995 my mom died of breast cancer. I later learned she had discovered a lump in the shower and life happened. By the time she went to a doctor, the cancer had spread and she died less than a year after her diagnosis. While I never got to hear @johnanderson live, I did get to hear @sierraelizabethferrell perform one of my all time favorite song of his, ‘Years.’ Thank you for some of my favorite songs, may the music continue on forever. Bought tickets for two concerts next year and thus, Gusbug and I are headed to an East Coast road trip! By far one of the coolest moments of my life. Captures how I feel visiting my hometown, Lake Arrowhead. It’s a place filled with nearly all the memories of my mom but also where they ended. Hard to imagine so much tied up into only 8 years there with her.
